This privacy policy will explain how RockTape UK uses the personal data we collect from you when you use our website and products.
What data do we collect?
When you visit one of our websites, anonymised information about your visit, which includes information such as your general location, your gender, your age group and the device you are using is collected for analytics purposes.
We also collect personal identification information from you when you place an order on our online store or sign up for our email newsletter, which includes, but is not necessarily limited to, your full name, your email address, your phone number, and your shipping and billing addresses.
How do we collect your data?
The anonymised information about your visit is collected automatically when you visit a page on our website. You directly provide RockTape UK with the personal information we collect. This data is collected when:
- You create an account on our online store
- You place an order for any of our products or services online
- You voluntarily sign up to our email newsletters or other forms of marketing.
How will we use your data?
We collect your data so that we can:
- Process your order and manage your account.
- Email you with special offers on products and services we think you might like.
- Send you news updates we think will interest you about RockTape UK.
We do not share your personal information with any other third parties for any purposes, marketing or otherwise, unless compelled to do so by law.
Your anonymised data is shared with Google Analytics to enable us to better understand our audiences and where they visit our websites from, which enables us to improve our websites, products and services. Your visit is assigned a unique identifier, which allows Google to group different data points about your visit together – things like the device you are browsing on (desktop, tablet, mobile), your general location, your demographic group – but this cannot be used to identify you as a person.
As RockTape UK grows and develops its business, it is possible that its corporate structure or organization might change or that it might merge or otherwise combine with, or that it or portions of its business might be acquired by, another company. In any such transactions, personal information generally is, and should be expected to be, one of the transferred business assets. Also, if any bankruptcy or reorganization proceeding is brought by or against us, your information may be considered a company asset that may be sold or transferred to third parties.
What automated decision making and/or profiling we do with your data
We do not perform any sort of automated decision making or profiling with your personal data. Google Analytics will use the anonymised information about you and your visit to our site to allow us to sort visits into categories, such as visits from users from certain locations or certain age ranges, but we cannot see specific details about individual visits.
Your personal information is never directly handed over to any sort of artificial intelligence or machine learning algorithm.
How do we store your data?
Your personal information is stored in two places:
- When you sign up to our mailing list, your name, email address and IP address is stored on servers belonging to Mailchimp which are distributed around the world. Mailchimp may transfer and process your data to and on servers in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United States, and anywhere else in the world where Mailchimp maintains data processing and storage operations.
- Our online store is run by BigCommerce, an external provider. The information you provide when creating an account on our online store and when placing an order is stored on their servers which are located in the United States.
Mailchimp has in place appropriate safeguards in accordance with applicable legal requirements to provide adequate protection for any personal data transferred from Switzerland, the UK, or the EEA to the United States. For example, Mailchimp uses and has incorporated European Commission approved “Standard Contractual Clauses” or “Model Clauses” into its Data Processing Agreement for the transfer of personal data outside of the EEA.
Anonymised data about your visit to our website is stored on servers belonging to Google, which may not necessarily be within the European Economic Area (EEA).
